The KAIST Technology Value Creation Institute has established itself as a leading institution driving intellectual property creation, technology transfer, commercialization, and technology diffusion based on Korea’s most advanced science and technology research outcomes.

By transforming research “outcomes” into industrial “value,” we aim to serve as a core hub for technology diffusion, ensuring that KAIST’s innovative technologies reach industries and society at large.
Through the integration of key functions — technology transfer, startups, standard essential patents, and global collaboration — centered around the TLO Headquarters, we provide systematic support to accelerate the delivery of KAIST’s research achievements to both domestic and global industrial fields.

We are strategically strengthening KAIST’s global competitiveness by advancing technology transfer contracts, securing standard essential patents, and expanding international joint patent applications.
These efforts establish a sustainable innovation ecosystem, where research outputs are transferred to industry and industrial demand, in turn, inspires new research.

Furthermore, through a researcher-centered IP support system and the Industry Liaison Program (ILP), we operate demand-driven programs for corporate technology matching and commercialization, fostering a virtuous cycle of technology supply and demand within a robust industry-academia cooperation ecosystem.
This approach enables KAIST researchers’ creative work to generate tangible industrial and social value, while also contributing to the university’s growth in licensing revenue, research funding, and collaborative networks.

In this way, KAIST’s research excellence becomes the core link in the technology value chain connecting academic innovation with national industrial development.
